Im Rahmen meiner Bachelorarbeit entwickelte und gestaltete ich das Sachbuch »Am Tor durch die Zeit«, welches das Ziel hat Jugendlichen auf ansprechende Art und Weise Geschichte zu vermittelt. Die Entstehung Deutschlands wird anhand der Ereignisse, die am Brandenburger Tor stattfanden, erzählt und mithilfe von Fotos, Illustrationen, Karten, Collagen, und experimenteller Typografie, veranschaulicht. Die Designentscheidungen orientierten sich an den Kenntnissen über die geschichtsdidaktische Aufbereitung von Lerninhalten und an den Vorlieben und Interessen der jugendlichen Zielgruppe.

Mit dem ­Sachbuch wurde ich für den Kölner ­ Designpreis 2017 nominiert. Im Zuge dessen wurde das Buch im Museum für Angewandte Kunst Köln und auf der Cologne Fine Art Messe ausgestellt.

As part of my bachelor’s thesis, I developed and designed the non-fiction book »Am Tor durch die Zeit«, which aims to convey history to young people in an appealing way. It explains the formation of Germany based on the events that happened at the Brandenburg Gate, by using photos, illustrations, maps, collages and experimental typography for visualisation. The design decisions were based on knowledge of history education and presentation of educational content, as well as on the preferences and interests of the teenage target group.

With my bachelor thesis I was nominated for the Kölner Designpreis 2017. In this context the book was exhibited at Museum of Applied Arts Cologne and at Cologne Fine Art fair.
